Big Mountain Enduro, America’s Largest Enduro Series, Returns to Sunrise Park Resort

Big Mountain Enduro (BME), presented by TRP Cycling, will be at Sunrise Park Resort to host the third of six races for their 2024 BME Enduro Series. Sunrise will also be hosting Big Mountain Downhill and the Youth Enduro Series the same weekend. The event is scheduled June 8-9, 2024.

Big Mountain Enduro, presented by TRP Cycling, the premier mountain bike enduro race series in the nation, is headed to Arizona’s Sunrise Resort in June.
This event will feature a stellar lineup of professional riders alongside amateur participants. In an exciting first, the series will also host the exclusive Big Mountain Downhill. The action-packed event will unfold at Sunrise Resort near Greer, Arizona, from June 6 to June 9.

Spectators Welcome! Spectators can view the ending of some race stages around the base area. You can also buy a lift ticket and ride up to watch the start or watch along other sections of the courses. Dining will be open at Sunrise base and Sunrise Peak. We will also have base area activities open.

Camping and Lodging

Camping will be available for racers the nights of June 6-8 (depart June 9) at Sunrise Base in the upper parking lot at a fixed rate of $49 for the weekend. There are no hookups or additional amenities at the base parking lot. We also have campsites and RV hookups available by the Sunrise General Store. Camping Permits will be required for any camping locations at Sunrise. Pick up camping permits for the parking lot at Guest Services in Sunrise Day Lodge. Permits for RV hookups and regular campsites are available at the Sunrise General Store. The Sunrise Park Lodge hotel also has a few rooms available for booking at the link below.

Saturday, 6/8

  • 7:30am to 8:00am: Youth Enduro rider packet pickup
  • 8:45am: Mandatory Youth Enduro rider meeting
  • 9:00am: Youth Enduro and Big Mountain Enduro riders start the races!
  • 12:00pm to 3:00pm: BMDH Practice
  • 3:00pm: Youth Enduro Awards Ceremony
  • 4:00pm to 8:00pm: Live music at Sunrise Day Lodge
  • 5:00pm: Big Mountain Downhill Race

Sunday, 6/9

  • 9:00am: Big Mountain Enduro riders start Stage 4!
  • 4:00pm: Big Mountain Enduro Awards at Sunrise Base

The adrenaline-fueled weekend kicks off with two practice days, allowing riders to acquaint themselves with the challenging course and strategize for a safe and speedy descent.

On Friday night, the event will commence with an opening ceremony, featuring the Crown Dancers from the White Mountain Apache Tribe. The dancers will offer a ceremony to bless the safety of all participants throughout the weekend.

On Saturday morning, racers will assemble at the Vendor Village before embarking on their assigned time slots to conquer the course. Over the span of two days, participants will be timed as they navigate all seven exhilarating stages. Each stage has been meticulously designed to test the riders’ abilities, showcasing their skills as they tackle some of the most formidable trails in the nation. The competition will include a diverse range of riders, spanning from 13-year-olds to those more than 50 years old. Anticipated attendance exceeds 300 racers, drawing participants from throughout the United States, as well as their families, friends, and spectators eager to witness the excitement of Mountain Bike Racing.

As the last rider crosses the finish line on Sunday evening, everyone will gather once again at the Vendor Village for the highly anticipated awards ceremony. The ceremony will be streamed live on our YouTube channel HERE at 3 p.m. PST. It will begin with the Youth Enduro Series winners and culminate with the announcement of the Big Mountain Enduro Pros.

In addition to the prestige associated with the awards, thousands of dollars in prizes will be distributed, including $9,000 in cash prizes for the professional riders.

This action-packed weekend promises thrills, spills, and an unforgettable experience for all mountain biking enthusiasts.

Spectators will be allowed at Sunrise Base area and around Sunrise Peak (scenic lift rides and hiking will be available to watch the racers). All Sunrise Base Area activities will also be available (Apache Coaster, zip line, airbag jump, tubing hill, rock climbing wall, etc.) and dining at Sunrise Pub/Day Lodge and Eagle’s Nest on Sunrise Peak. Note: Mountain Biking will be limited to participants only on June 8-9.

BME is North America’s premier Enduro tour and brings professional and amateur mountain bikers from across the country to compete at some of the most challenging mountain courses. There are six stops for the BME series, all specially picked for their challenge and trail offerings, and Sunrise is proud to be selected as a host mountain again this year.
