Employment: Snowmaker Apprentice

Job Summary

Follow the written and or verbal direction of Snowmaking supervisor and or senior personnel to assist in winter snowmaking operations nightly on the mountain.

Location: On-site at Sunrise Park Resort

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports to: Snowmaking Supervisor

Employment Status/Type: Seasonal

Qualifications: Experience in construction, military, or vocational school

Compensation: $12-$15/hr

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Follow the written and or verbal direction of Snowmaking supervisor and or senior personnel. Assist senior personnel in the performance of their duties. Follow the procedures set forth by senior personnel, Sunrise Employee Handbook and WMAT Personnel Policies. Learn procedures set by senior personnel in order to gain advancement within department.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to work outside in any weather condition for extended periods
  • Must be willing to work days, NIGHTS, weekend, holidays and overtime as job requires
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to drive to work
  • Must be able to lift 100lbs. repeatedly
  • Must be able to operate snowmobile
  • Must be willing to learn on the job and increase knowledge of job
  • Must be able to apply good judgment in potently dangerous situations

Daily Responsibilities

  • Perform daily routine startup on all snowmaking equipment and daily equipment checks
  • Perform daily maintenance and inspection of hoses and equipment with supervision
  • Perform repairs and modifications to snowmaking material
  • Operate shop equipment, power and hand tools
  • Communicate possible problems
  • Be responsible for Sunrise equipment and vehicles
  • Maintain cleanliness / housekeeping of all snowmaking maintenance spaces
  • Maintain a good attitude and appearance to the Sunrise Guest
  • Perform all duties as directed by snowmaking supervisor and senior personnel

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Minimum 6mo. Experience or training in construction, military or vocational school
