Employment: Lift Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary

Responsible for maintenance of lift equipment (winter and summer). The Lift Maintenance Mechanic will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fixed grip and detachable aerial and surface lifts. Preventative and routine maintenance is performed year-round in changing and extreme weather conditions.  Position duties will entail climbing to heights greater than 50 feet off the ground as well as crawling in potentially confined spaces.  Position will also assist other operating areas with various duties as assigned.

Reports to: Lift Maintenance Manager/Senior Personnel

Employment Status/Type: 10 Month Year-Round Full Time (time away in shoulder season- April and September)

Qualifications: Network, IT, and Server Experience

Compensation: $13.00-$18.00/hr – DOE

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform routine lift startup, daily checks, and maintenance.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation to troubleshoot and correct the causes of trouble.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Repair electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Assist in repairs or modifications to ski lifts.
  • Communicate possible problems to senior personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all lift maintenance areas.
  • Perform all duties as directed by Lift Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
  • Operate regularly and be responsible for company equipment and vehicles.
  • Maintain good attitude and appearance to the public.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D is required.
  • Must be able to read/write English
  • 6 months experience with hand tools or construction work or equivalent vocational or military training.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and understand hydraulic, mechanical and electrical prints. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Understand maintenance recommendations of all ski lift manufactures by interpreting schematics and manufactures’ manuals. Understand and follow all ANSI and Federal Regulations.

  • Able to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Must be able to climb 75 ft. ladders/towers and work at heights more than 30 ft.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required with approval.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and increase skill levels.
  • Must be able to apply good judgment in potentially dangerous situations.
  • Skiing and or snowboarding is preferred.
  • Must be able to fill out daily lift logs.
  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor in verbal and non-verbal interactions with guests and team members.
  • Must be able to work as a team, while balancing team and individual responsibilities.
  • Is consistently dependable and arrives to work on time. Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Must give 2 weeks’ notice if you are unable to fulfill your shift.
  • Uses time efficiently and works quickly; completes tasks.
  • Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Able to function in tight workspaces.
